Notes on 25th INVEST conference in Taj Bengal on 18th & 19th Dec. ’09

The Silver Jubilee conference of INVEST was organized in grandeur. The conference was organized by the EZC.

Press meet: The press meet was held in Hotel Tangaria, Kolkata, where representatives from five leading dailies in Kolkata, including Economic Times, attended the meeting, followed by the dinner.

Inauguration: The following dignitaries were in dais:

The President of India, Ms Prativa Patil, the Chief Minister of West Bengal Mr. Buddhadeb Bhattachrjee and Mr. David C Wilson, President, SAVE International, including many others have sent their good wishes for the success of the conference.

About the Conference

Fourteen corporates namely, Tata Steel, Tata Motors (Jamshedpur & Pune), Tata Tinplate, L&T( Mumbai, Coimbatore & Mysore), Bhilai Steel Plant, Mahindra & Mahindra, Sobha Developers (Bangalore), Uranium Corporation, Bharatiya Reseve Bank Note Mudran Pvt Ltd (Mysore), Tata Toyo Radiator (Pune), John Deere Technology Center (Pune), Onward Tec. Ltd (Pune), Tata Metaliks, Tata Refractories and some of the IT industries namely TCS participated in the conference. 30 papers have been presented, the topics ranging from application of Value Engg. to manufacturing, services, systems and health care area.

Awards

Three awards have been presented for the best, second best and third best papers.

Best paper - M/s Gourishankar & Amar Variawa, John Deere technology Center, Pune

2nd best paper- Mr. P S Lele, L&T Ltd., Ahmadnagar

3rd best paper - Mr. .R Godakh, Mhindra & Mahindra Ltd., Mumbai

Mr. Mahesh Natarajan of SAVE International (Manufacturing) has announced an award, to be given by him, for the best presentation, that has been adjudged by the spot evaluators as the best presentation made. This year the award has gone to team from Tinplate Co. of India Ltd., Jamshedpur for the presentation made on 'Improved process for DR cooling at Cold Rolling Mill Complex by M/s Amit Roy, Swarup Chatterjee and S J Dey.

The Mohta Award for the best Value Engg. project implemented during the running year goes to the project from Bhilai Steel Plant. The Soundaram Kannappan medal for best individual performance goes to Mr. Raman Gopalan (Pune). Handa Trophy for the best VE practicing company has been bagged by Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, Mumbai and the second best company in this category goes to Sobha Developers, Bangalore.

Annual General Meeting – The meeting was held on 18th dec.’09 at 5.15 PM in Taj Bengal, under the Chairmanship of Mr. S C Sarkar, National President. 120 delegates attended the meeting.

INVEST Certification Board meeting - The meeting was held, in Taj Bengal lounge, on 18th Dec. ’09 at 3.00 PM, under the Administership of Mr. A K Mukhopadhyay, CVS.

INVAVE editorial Board meeting – The meeting was held in Taj Bengal lounge, on 18th Dec. ’09 at 4.00 PM under Mr. Alok Ghosal, CVS, Editor-in-Chief.

National Council meeting – The meeting was held on 18th Dec. ’09 at Hotel Tangarine, Kolkata, at 7.30 PM, followed by dinner.
